Hello, and welcome to Rooted Yoga - Covington. I would like to take this opportunity to talk to you about my second home, my yoga studio, the place where I teach, and grow, and let go, and work towards being a better person for those around me.
You won't find hot yoga or classes full of advanced asana at Rooted Yoga – you'll find yoga classes and teachers that support you in your experience of yoga where you are when you show up, every time you show up. You won't find a boutique section with overpriced yoga apparel – you'll find some t-shirts and slightly used mats for sale. You won't find someone walking around the classroom telling you that you're doing the pose wrong – you'll find a teacher supporting you if you need to take child's pose instead of flowing through another vinyasa. You won't find walls adorned with yogis holding advanced asana that will make you wonder if they have any bones in their body – you will find artwork from local neighborhood artists. You won't hear anyone telling you what yoga is and what the "right" way to do yoga is – you'll hear teachers thanking you for showing up, reminding you that the hardest part is always arriving and to trust that you are your greatest teacher –only you know what is good for your body and what is not. You won't find just a building where people come to their mats and leave with haste –you'll find a community of yogis from all walks of life in different places with their practices treating one another like a family. Because that's what Rooted Yoga is – a family. It has been the place that welcomed me with open arms the very first time I stepped into the space and envisioned what it could become. And it has become the space that I open my heart to and at times unfold and cry on my mat and let go.
It's been almost a year since we opened our doors. In that short amount of time, I have connected with the most beautiful human beings, confronted my demons, learned to let go, helped others to let go and heal, and have been reminded to have a beginner's mind over and over again. I have grown exponentially in my personal and professional endeavors. My goal in life is to work towards living a more mindful, and gentle life and sharing that practice with as many humans as possible. At Rooted Yoga, I want you to experience all that I have mentioned and more. Welcome, I hope to see you soon. Namaste
